One response to “Public Narrative”
-
I struggled with this! And I’m still not entirely happy with it. I had trouble combining the literary abstract work we had been doing through the story of self us and now to a clear message. This, to me, comes across as a little bit forced. I think if I were to do this outside of an assignment, I would use these stories but worry less about a clear message and let it be more abstract, and I would make a separate public narrative about treating freelancers well that was a little less fancy and a little more standing on a soapbox. I also found it really hard to do this in MN. I have a (chaotic, frustrating, angst ridden) process that I have used to make previous videos and I didn’t feel like I had the time or space to do it along side everything else happening at the residency. Nevertheless, I think I have a much better understanding now of how to do a public narrative (even if I don’t do it like this) and also a new way to just tell a story that I want to tell, and let the listener craft the message.
I actually made three different public narratives…because… well just because I’m me and I was stressed.
