This was HARD! Writing is REALLY HARD. And like 5 times in the process I thought, “I hate writing,” “Writing sucks!” “I’m a terrible writer!” And then I just kept working on it and working on it, and there was a point when it just clicked into place, and I was like, “Writing is Awesome!!” I have not had children, but I imagine writing is similar to childbirth – it is built to make you forget how awful it felt and only remember the amazing feeling of having done it. I’m really really proud of this piece. It has been a long time since I’ve written something this.. well… long, but also this real. This wasn’t a piece of my creative musings, this was a real thing. And I’m proud that it is written in my voice even though it’s a more serious subject. It is super duper long and I can’t imagine anyone has the attention span to read something like this these days, but I want to break it up into smaller articles and maybe publish on Medium. I’ve sent this to two key freelancers, and will slowly send it to others. I’ve gotten great feedback from one of them, but I want a little more feedback from that community before sharing it widely. Anyway, this was a terrible process, and wonderful and anxiety filled, and pride filled and a learning experience and so much more. I can’t wait for the next one.
